“I hope your plan(e) has the chance to crash and burn.”

Eric at showyourgaypride.com giving us another fine example of tolerance (warning: link goes to pro homosexual site) and reacting to news that Family Policy Network is going to fly an airplane banner over the San Diego Pride event. What apparently pushed Eric to hypocritically hope for an aircraft accident? What else but a nice clear call to repentance and faith:

FPN President Joe Glover was quoted as saying, “Homosexuality is nothing to celebrate. It has grave consequences, both physical and spiritual.”

“The hope of all who sin, including homosexuals, is the chance to turn from sin and embrace the redemption God makes available through His Son, Jesus Christ,” he added.

Well said, Joe.  It’s not about homosexuality (alone), the message of the cross is for all who sin (no matter the sin).  As you read this, please think about that.  Is there sin you need to repent of?  Then Jesus Christ is your hope too.

The New York Times Blog had this:

“I believe that God designed the universe and created the universe,” Mr. Romney said in an interview this week. “And I believe evolution is most likely the process he used to create the human body.”

He was asked: Is that intelligent design?

“I’m not exactly sure what is meant by intelligent design,” he said. “But I believe God is intelligent and I believe he designed the creation. And I believe he used the process of evolution to create the human body.”

I haven’t heard a better example of double-speak, since Bill Clinton wrote me “while personally against abortion I… ” (you can fill in the rest)

For clarification the Bible says this: And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (Genesis 2:7)

I’m not sure what the Book of Mormon says happened when God created man. But I don’t think it says we are the decedents of fish, Gov. Romney.

Transsexual United Methodist Minister Reappointed to Lead Baltimore Church

“Rev. Phoenix merits compassion for a lifelong struggle over gender identity issues, as related at the conference. But the church helps no one when it fails to faithfully transmit the Gospel of hope and transformation,” said UMAction Director Mark Tooley.

This is so sad. The Judicial council of the UMC is likely to address the issue in Oct. How can this even happen, you may wonder? Well, The United Methodist Church has no explicitly stated, official policy regarding sex change operations.

We have failed as a church. We (and I’m not just talking about Methodists here) have failed to reach out in love and offer healing to those in our community confused and burdened with homosexuality. Let me be clear. No matter you sin Jesus Christ offers help and healing. Not through surgery or even acceptance of one’s pet sin, but through the Biblical model of repentance and faith in Christ.

And He summoned the crowd with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. “For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.
Mark 8:34-35

NRO reports Episcopal Church has gone off the deep end.  SHOCKING!!!

Scrappleface may just be the first prophet of sarcasm.  Stop doing that Scott.

On a more serious note: This is what happens when you start picking and choosing the scriptures you want to obey or not.

OneNewsNow.com reports Lou Sheldon is backing Gov. Mitt Romney for President.

What bothers me the most are Sheldon’s responses. First where he says he won’t back others on the ticket because…

“…it would be impractical to endorse one of them because winning the White House requires a lot of money and a large, experienced staff like Romney has.”

In other words, “I am betting on the horse with the best odds”, or “I am not concerned about principle, as much as I am winning.” More disturbing than that however is his defense of Romney’s Mormonism.

“He reads the Bible regularly. He has said — and I asked him — that he has received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior,” the pastor declares. “He believes that Jesus Christ is the divine Son of God, only Son of God divine, and was crucified, buried and raised from the dead for our behalf. So, I think as he addresses those issues, that’s certainly going to ignite good feeling [among Christians].”

First, Mormonism is a cult. Lou Sheldon certainly knows that. They frequently use similar terms as Christianity, but have a completely different understanding of things such as God, Jesus Christ, Salvation, Heaven, Hell, etc.

Secondly, IF Romney were truly born-again, he would repent and leave the Mormon Church or at the very least be extremely uncomfortable within it and in the process of leaving. Before some of you explode on me, no, I can not judge whether a person is truly saved, but we can look for visible signs of repentance and faith in Christ. If he just lacks knowledge, I’ll pray that he finds the truth and leaves the church he so adamantly defends.

Which brings up the question - Is Mitt Romney Good Enough to Get Into Heaven? Are YOU?

If you are not checking for comments often on my blog, here are a couple good ones of late:

Psychologist, Dr. X, chimes in on “Why Evolution Matters”

and Pumkinhead brings up an excellent point on Ron Paul and whether his views of evolution matter as president.

And the UMC (of which I am a member) continues to wonder why the denomination is loosing membership.

Minister Clayton Childers of the Capitol Hill-based United Methodist Board of Church and Society said the presence of a national flag can imply endorsement of national policies, which often are counter to the teachings of Christ. Childers even noted that the Swastika flag was displayed prominently in German churches during the Nazi era.

Mark Tooley is with the Institute on Religion and Democracy (IRD). “Obviously,” he notes, “there are a number of serious problems with that Nazi-American analogy; but one of the problems, of course, is that American churches display the American flag completely voluntarily. No one is compelling them to do it — whereas, of course, in Nazi Germany the totalitarian state compelled its churches not only to display the flag but to support the government’s policies.”

GOP CANDIDATE ROMNEY PROFESSES BELIEF IN THEISTIC EVOLUTION
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is trying to clarify for the public some points about his religious beliefs. For instance, he says he embraces the theory of evolution but also believes an intelligent designer created the Earth.
http://www.onenewsnow.com

One can only wonder if by “Intelligent Designer” Romney (a Mormon) means the God of the scriptures is that designer. Oh wait, they don’t believe the scriptures to begin with, so the point it moot.

Really this is just political verbal gymnastics. Here are some things he could say:

“I’m for Traditional Marriage.. even for homosexuals”
“I’m against abortion.. but for a woman’s right to choose.” (oh look, he’s already said something like that)
