A very significant and “potentially devastating” quantity of explosive components and materials, some already mixed into active explosives, along with detonators, wires, and other bomb-making paraphernalia was discovered at a storage facility on US Route 45 S in Bradford, Tennessee just after 9:00 yesterday morning. Also found were bomb making instructions downloaded from the Internet, as well as various city and county maps that highlighted the targets, among them: Christian Churches in the immediate area.

I saw that when it first came out, but I couldn’t find any information on it. We used to live in Gibson County Tennessee and I know folks there. They were surprised this made any form of national or terrorist news. I have asked folks to let me know names and more information, but no one there seems interested. Do you have any further info. If so email me.

The news report below says “no evidence of a crime”, “a small amount of explosive material” was discovered along with “city and county maps highlighting homes and churches in the immediate area.” The ATF representative “would not comment on the maps and church bulletins Bradford police say were discovered along with the explosive materials”, and their investigation is closed.
What is disturbing is the planning. Even if the material to carry out their plan were lacking, what they were apparently planning to do is what needs to be addressed.

BRADFORD, TN - Federal agents downplayed the discovery of a cache of explosives, including maps higlighting local churches, and announced there is no evidence of a crime.
Nathaniel Jones, Special Agent-In-Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) in Memphis, said there are no suspects, and there will be no charges.
“A small amount of explosive material and fireworks were located at the residence,” said Jones. “There is no information or indication as to any criminal activity associated with the items recovered.
“As a result of our investigative efforts, there are no indications of any threats against any churches, a specific group of people, any office building or government facility or residence.”
Jones would not comment on the maps and church bulletins Bradford police say were discovered along with the explosive materials, leaving at least one elder of a church less than a mile away to wonder why the investigation ended so quickly.

Thursday, News Channel 3’s Daralene Jones reported the FBI and ATF spent more than six hours on the scene. They found detonators, substances to make bombs — some of them already mixed and ready to set off — and Internet instructions on how to make explosives. The cache also included city and county maps highlighting homes and churches in the immediate area.
