Accurate News from Honduras

The following comes from a friend of mine living in Honduras. There is a lot of misinformation if you only watch the news. DH’s email helps clear up a lot. Keep my friends and the people of Honduras in your prayers, please.

Hi everyone,

In view of the events of the past 7 days in Honduras and, in our opinion, the tremendous MISINFORMATION by the international media, we want to direct you to a website that gives a more balanced view of these events.

Honduras really needs prayer as the very fabric of democracy in this nation is threatened right now. The international community has not understood the situation here, nor the danger the former president represented to this country. Honduras sought to remove him legally, and the military arrested him obeying orders of the Congress, and shipped him to Costa Rica. We have not, to our knowledge, been controlled at any time by the military here but by the 3 branches of the civil government. Honduras might could have done this is a better way, but they were pushed into an almost impossible situation by the former president and we must go forward from here. We understand that Honduras is looked on as a violent, undemocratic country by the majority of Americans, but that perception is incorrect. Honduras has tried to stand up FOR, not against democracy through its actions. Please share this with others so that the perception stateside of Honduras can be corrected.

Concerned Hondurans in conjunction with concerned Americans have created the website below for the purpose of informing the international community about the events that are happening in the country of Honduras. There is much misinformation being reported that we are seeking to correct via articles that are balanced. Please check in often as the situation down here is very fluid. We have seen international new reports with pro-democracy, anti-Zelaya protesters in the background, and the reporter declaring that they were pro-Zelaya protesters (since it was an English newscast, no one would have known the difference). Presently the atmosphere is calm, but with the ex-president announcing that he will return to Honduras this weekend, and the UN declaring that Honduras restate him or face the consequences, this could change quickly. There is an order for the ex-president’s arrest once he steps foot in Honduras due to various unconstitutional actions on his part. You can read more about this on the website below.

Please inform yourselves, and then pray in an informed way. (Nehemiah 1:2-4). We would ask that you send this email and website to others that need a balanced perspective of these events.
